Idea...
While blogging I ran into this quilt and thought, no way will I ever remember where I got the idea to give credit, when or more likely if I use it. So figured it may be best to just write it here for a possible future reference.
Happy Halloween!

Not much to report today.
Friends are on their way to a quilt retreat that I won't be able to go to this time. :~( Wadhams is a great time and its orgainzed by a couple of my friends. This time of year is difficult for me to get there so I usually go in spirit. But, this weekend is completely booked with PGS#1 coming home, he'll be 16 tomorrow. Can you believe that! He's away at school in MA and I couldn't get over how much he has grown in all ways, mentally, physically and spiritually. I am so proud of his development. Also a couple of different friends I'll be reconnecting with that I'm lookin gforward to, so I don't think I'll be able to finish assembling the back for the Alien Invasion quilt I worked on last march. I won't give away yet what I'm trying to do until I know it'll work, but here is a little peek.
DH and I are off to do some errands, seems like Thursdays are always the best day of the week for that. Enjoy your day, I know I'll enjoy mine.

I'll close with some cute photos of the youngest grandchildren that was snapped last night. Why is it that a cardboard box or a bag are childrens most fun times?
Notice the little one really doesn't care for the Flash.

Oooops.
I noticed this morning that I had 3 errors in the weaving of my star woven runner at the edges. One you can see on the bottom left side of the previous post's picture. It shows the center bottom star missing it's bottom left point. SO I ripped it out and the other two problem spots and have woven them correctly. Now to hand stitch those areas since it's impossible to get to them any other way. :~(

Doing a happy Dance!
Yeah! Finally the woven table runner is DONE! I took a class with a fellow guild member last year and for 2 nights one month apart I worked on this runner last fall. Of course, I wanted it to be a bit longer than the pattern so it was adapted.
I did use the solid black fabric for the reversible side (thanks to the many suggestions from fellow stash busters and a couple of the comments left here) I took their advice. Now I can happily report it's "Tout fini"!
Now for the black borders of the Patience Corners, or perhaps finish the Convergence or make a pillow for PGS#3 or perhaps his valance that DD wants. HUmmm, maybe I'll forget all that and take a rest.
Enjoy your Sunday!

WOW! Amazing
Recently I received this video clip and I'm so impressed. Check it out your self.
A Physical Education teacher, Lynn Kelley who founded the Kings
Firecrackers 13 years ago, said the video of their performance at an Army vs.
Navy game in February was posted to the team's Web site in early April, and has
ignited national interest, no wonder, they are awesome.

Auditioning:
I have had my woven table runner assembled since last fall. I only have to cut, sew and quilt the borders and it would be done then I realized that I didn't like my fabric choice for the reversible side.
This is one side will be. My initial focus fabric. I intend to have a fall with a new Years celebratory table runner with this one.
With being a stashbuster, I thought I'd shop my stash and the next 2 are the possibilities that were found.
This last one I really like the fabric, BUT feel the smaller square design of the fabric will compete with the stars. So it may not have an adhesive effect in the finished project.
(I know give me a string and I'll make a knotted mess of it. I need to remember what good friends say....keep it simple Jane!)
Then I saw the remains of my bolt of Black fabric I have out to finish the borders of my patience corners and thought YEah! I think that may be best.
Are you seeing a repitition of staling on the borders here...humm.
Well, if you have any thoughts, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks and Happy Stitching,
Jane

The winner is.....
Thank you all for your nice comments and visiting my blog. I have enjoyed blogging this past year and am amazed how quickly the time has gone by. If you know it or not, your kind comments, visiting this sight has all helped me in some way. Whether it was a kind word, a thought of how to do something, or commiserate with a sorrow each of you have shared with me and for this I am grateful and I thank you.
So, without further adieu I printed out all entries, cut them apart and place them into the kokopelli container. Drum Roll please..............Closed my eyes.. then pulled up the winning name.
Congratulations to Pam.
I just sent an email out to her for her mailing address. She doesn't have a blog to link to her with the comment she left. So Pam C, your winnings are headed your way.
Enjoy your day,
Jane

Fabric if needed..
I took these pictures recently on a walk. I Love unusual and nice things. This fit into both categories and it was good to witness.
On the quilting front, I just found out about a store that's located in Kentucky, close to the Mammouth Cave National Park that has great prices. It's Whittle's Fabrics. I remember when going to Paducah with friends, we stayed the night in Elizabethtown, which is relatively close. With Whittle's being in business for so many years, it's surprising I never heard of them before.
Their prices are crazy low. Most fabrics are $3.50 to $5.00 a yard and their wide fabrics are $8-9 a yard. All quilt shop quality. Different people on some of my lists have been shopping there for years and even make pilgramage trips to get what they need. Speaking of pilgramages, Mom, remember when Keepsake Quilting had their Sale days......those were the days. Watching you on the way home "getting high" on all the new fabric we purchsed, rummaging thriough the bags and reveling in our trophies. Fondling, touching, dreaming.....LOL (and no, I haven't purchased any... YET.) I'm still doing my NO-Buy challenge and I think I'll sign up again this year. I still have a quilt on the home page of Stashbuster. This was my first quilt I used entirely my stash to create and I love it. It also was a labor of love since all the squares were cut out individually, no mass assembling was done. MAny friends when seeing me do this, thoguht I had lost it. Tee Hee! It was planned on EQ5, so I knew how many of each type of square and block unit(s) were needed.
Thrilled to report too, that the October Patchabilities was finished last night. So today, I'm pulling out the woven star table runner. I took a class at my guild last year. You might have remembered it from this post, where a snippet of it in progress is mentioned. I have it all woven, it's just a matter of ironing, cutting and assembling my borders, and so on...... I know there is a trick to sewing on the top border fabric with the batting, then sew on the backing in a way to just hide the stitch line and to make sure there is room for the woven stars to float within.
Hopefully, I can get this one done soon.
Can't believe it's the middle of October already. DH and I have been busy since coming home from camping. Getting ready to hibernate with winterizing the pool, hot tub, yard, camper, got 7 pints jalopeno jelly, 5 pints crab apple jelly put up, harvested butternuts, cleaned several more shelves in the linen closets and purged plenty of excess in the process. Actually, just got under the kitchen sink this past weekend and cleaned it out. Now it's much better all repapered and organized again.
Since making pledges seems to work for me, I recently made a pledge to exercise on a more frequent basis. I won't yet disclose my plan, we'll see if it works, then I'll share after my success. Wish me luck!

Plodding along
The patience corners quilt top blocks are all assembled. Now, to add the borders, I'm thinking a solid black border with perhaps a little piping before the binding is added will do. I'll have to audition it. Also, I'll need to sew and fix the backing. I'm thinking of doing something a lttle different on this one. We'll see.
It really is a large quilt. Hopefully DH will set up some tables in the garage this afternoon, since we are on standby for watching our daughter's children. She's on call and has to leave quickly if needed.

Quilt show this past weekend..
The CVQG of Northern NY had a wonderful quilt show this past weekend. I think it was the best one so far. I was able to work th eshow on Sunday. Actually I was scheduled to work from 10-3:00 and only worked until 2:30 since help was abundant, and my relief didn't have any scheduled time slot alloted to work. I assisted with the consignment area, white glove and Latte Lotto. Thankful I went to get a program and to vote, since during my white glove I looked at the quilts. Knowing which quilt I would vote for, then drats, no programs or paper to vote on. I wonder when they ran out. Oh well... life goes on.
To further support the guild, I bought 13 tickets for $5.00 in the Latte Lotto and WOW! I selected different items that would be nice to have or as gifts and check out my winnings.
I snapped this picture when I came home, would you believe I forgot my camera. A friend took some photos and kindly sent them to me. Hopefully later, I'll try to figure out and set up a photo album of them for viewing.
As far as the "No-Buy" pledge I took through Stashbusters, I'm happy to say I didn't break the oath. There are rules and penalties if you break them. For your information, here's the stashbuster link. (Notice, my Autumn song quilt is still on the Home page. I am so honored.)
So sayinig that, here are pictures of my purchases. Yep! I refrained really well, until I saw this BOM program for Patchabilities through Adirondack Quilts, a shop in Glens Falls, NY.
Those that haven't signed up yet for my giveaway, the drawing will be held shortly. It's still not too late.
